Database
For the 40th reunion, classmate Doug Vanous put together a huge spreadsheet containing contact information and statuses for our 515 classmates. That was a tremendously heavy lift. On top of that, he then maintained that database for a decade. When you next see Doug, please thank him for this very important and helpful work.
Updates needed
There is an old saying in the data management field: there is no such thing as a perfect database, only one with an acceptable number of errors! Our database does present opportunities for improvement.
For example, we have about 120 classmates marked as “missing” in the database. This means we’ve had no contact with these individuals since before the 40th reunion. We also have about 50 people marked as “deceased.”
Testing an online database
We are testing the viability of putting a subset of the database online. You can see it at https://mrhs1974.us/class-list/.
What can you do with the online database?
You can get a lot from the online database:
- Find yourself by entering part of your name in the search box on the database page. Let us know your email address by sending an email to mt.rainier74@gmail.com. We’ll mark you as verified. If you think you may come, or know you will come, to the reunion then let us know that information, too.
- Find missing classmates by entering the word “missing” in the search box. If you see someone you know who is marked as missing, please reach out to them and encourage them to contact us at mt.rainier74@gmail.com.
- Find deceased classmates by entering the word “deceased” in the search box.
- Scroll through the entire list and let us know if you find a classmate you know to be deceased. We’ll update the database from your report.
The database contains additional information such as email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, name of spouse, etc., but we are purposefully not publishing that information online in an effort to protect your privacy.
