Reunion meeting minutes, Feb. 1, 2024

Present for this meeting: Rob Fletcher, Kerry Brown, Steve Carlson, Suzy (VanHout) Lindeke, Tom Salzer, Paula Rudberg Lowe.

Taylor Mountain Ranch visit is Feb. 15

Several committee members will attend the venue tour to learn more about the space. Steve Carlson is developing a list of questions, so we can maximize our time there. Members will photograph and measure spaces and learn where we will put activities and decorations. A $500 deposit has been paid to the venue.

It is anticipated that the reunion will become a non-profit 501c7 (social club) in February. Shortly thereafter it is anticipated that the reunion will be fully insured. Final venue paperwork will be signed that day.

Kerry Brown is renting a large van and will take committee members to the venue. Others are choosing to drive themselves to the venue.

Cost

We anticipate 135 to 145 people to attend. Expenses are budgeted, so tickets will be $95. The reunion is at a quiet, beautiful private location.

Fresh food will be cooked and prepared on site and served that evening, including a variety of barbecued meats. Fresh salads and other foods will be provided too. Thanks to Brad Goodspeed, a classmate, for catering.

There will be a few activities provided, but mostly, we want everyone to have time to catch up with one another.

For those who register by April 30, classmates will get reserved seating and priority feeding. A dinner table will be reserved and they will be first to eat dinner. Registration will be set up soon on the website.

Donations

If you wish to make a donation to the MRHS Class of 1974 reunion to help cover costs and give scholarships, you may do so on the website (to be set up soon). Please note that donations are not tax deductible.

Photographer and photo booth will capture special moments

A professional photographer will be on site for two hours to take candid photos of our classmates as they reunite with friends. The photographer will also take photos of the décor and activities, plus he will take one large group shot.

A photo booth staffed by a photographer will be on site for two hours so we can take pictures with our classmates and take a keepsake photo of the moment. Kerry Brown signed the contract and paid a $150 deposit in February.

Nametags

Suzy (Van Hout) Lindeke is working on name tags for our reunion.

Additional professionals to pay

The caterer, Brad Goodspeed, will need payment as will the professional, licensed and insured bartender. Kerry Brown will check on the contracts to learn when they need payment.

Remembering our classmates

Robin (Cooley) Krause created the beautiful memorial slideshow for the 40th reunion. She will develop a new slideshow for the 50th reunion so we can honor those who have passed.

More classmates welcome to help

Our committee welcomes more classmates to help with the reunion. If you are interested, send us an email. We need assistance before the reunion as well as a few days before, and at the reunion.

Thank you to Paula Rudberg Lowe for crafting these meeting minutes!
