Testing PayPal for Registrations

Your classmate team is hard at work to prepare for the 50th reunion of the Mt. Rainier High School Class of 1974!

We have decided to use PayPal as the payment processor for reunion registrations. PayPal is widely known and provides a flexible platform for payments. We can integrate PayPal into this website relatively easily and securely.

A shopping cart system was installed, configured with some temporary choices, and tested. We were surprised that the payment actually went through, from one classmate to another! The system had been configured for testing but since a valid PayPal account was also plugged into the system, the test payment became a real payment!

Although that was an unexpected outcome, it did demonstrate that the system works. We will continue to refine it as we work on pricing for the reunion. We hope to have pricing ready by the holidays.

Donations

We also hope to have a donation button available for you. One reason for accepting donations is that some classmates may not be able to attend but wish to support the reunion.

Another reason for donations is some classmates may find the cost of the registration prevents them from participating. Having some funds available to discreetly help these folks attend benefits the entire class. Philosophically, we’d like all of our classmates to be able to participate in the reunion.

Time is ticking away

While it seems like the reunion is a long, long way off, the reality is that our planning timeline is pretty tight. The reunion is happening in 42.8 weeks from the date of this post. For your enjoyment, here is a countdown timer to the August 3, 2024 50th reunion of the Class of 1974!
